WHERE TO DRINK WEDNESDAY - THE BEST COCKTAILS IN LINCOLN

As a bit of a cocktail connoisseur, it's only right that I use my "expertise" to share with you the bars of Lincoln that offer out the best cocktails.

The Rogue Saint is Lincoln's Irish/American bar, which comes to life on Friday and Saturday with live bands and lots of customers, and is the perfect place for a chilled out drink during the week. The cocktail menu is pretty extensive and a lot of effort goes into making them, as you can hopefully tell by looking at the image inserted to the left! The staff are friendly, though I'll admit they do take their time with the drinks, but if you're not in a rush then that shouldn't be a problem. They also offer beers, ciders, spirits, soft drinks and mocktails, so if you want to take someone who isn't as crazy about cocktails as you are, then don't worry about it! A little tip, head over here on a Sunday night and ask for a stamp at the bar - they're a pound to buy and mean that your drinks are half price for the rest of the night! That's ALL drinks too - so your £7.00 cocktails become just £3.50! A total bargain.

Slug & Lettuce is situated at the bottom of Steep Hill in Lincoln, and is of course very well known for its many cocktails! The main perk of this Slug & Lettuce is that it has a large outdoor patio area for warm summer nights, which is not something that many other cocktail bars in the city have. It's so pleasant to sit out here and sip away at your two-for-one daiquiri's with good company, and sometimes a bite to eat if you fancy it, especially on Monday with food having 50% off! The standard of the drinks never slips, although i will admit that the service can feel slightly impersonal - but this is bound to happen with no table service! On a weekend the place comes to life and you can dance the night away, but throughout the rest of the week it's a nice, chilled out place, perfect for a date night - be it with friends or your partner!

My ultimate favourite, Revolution. Let's start with the cocktails, because that's what we're all the most interested in. There are a few staples that will ALWAYS be on the menu, and they taste so amazing here. Your classic Woo Woo, a Long Island Iced Tea, Gin and Juice, to name a few - all so tasty, so well presented and sold as two-for-one during happy hour, or all day long with the Revolution Card! There are of course more abstract choices, the Rumbull is a personal favourite of mine, but if you're not certain then don't worry - on the menu you'll find a photo of almost every drink, so you know what to expect! Every month or so they mix up their specials list, and work with different brands of spirits to create new and exciting limited edition cocktails, which means you can visit over and over again and still find something new to try! The staff are so friendly, and a lot quicker than most places are about getting your drinks ready. They also offer table service, making you feel more at home and at ease, and their food is really tasty and super affordable! The best thing about Rev's is that it's suitable for so many age groups - bring your mum, bring your boyfriend, come as a group - it'll work with almost anybody! You can come for lunch, for tea, for evening drinks, for pre drinks!

A hidden gem, Vice & Co is a speakeasy style cocktail bar disguised as an electrical repair store just off the Highstreet in Lincoln. No two for one offers here, but a unique experience that is perfect if you're wanting to treat yourself! I went here to mark the end of my second year at University with two of my friends, we were greeted at the door and, in exchange for the password given to you via Email, were escorted down some stairs into the 'basement' where we were seated and given menus. The cocktails are colourful and tasty, and the staff are really welcoming and very chatty. We were given some popcorn and water on the house, which was of course a tactic to get us to drink more, but was nonetheless appreciated. My friend couldn't manage her drink and found it quite strong, I however gladly sipped away at it for her, so if you like generous measurements then you're in for a treat! The seating area is 1920's style and so is deliberately dated, the only issue with it is the size. It's a pretty confined space, so you need to make sure you book and don't just turn up, as you wont be guaranteed a seat! Overall it's something a bit different, if you're looking for classy cocktails rather than student style bars, then this is the place for you!

These are my top four recommendations for cocktail's in Lincoln! Enjoy.
